Supporting you, embracing care and transformation.
Practice Policies and Fees,
Confidentiality
What you share in your therapy sessions is kept private. You only need to share what you are comfortable with and you are not required to share anything you don’t want to share. I store healthcare records in alignment with legal standards of practice set out by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
By law there are some limits to confidentiality. These may apply to you if:
Your records are subpoenaed by a court judge.
If I have reason to believe that you present imminent risk of harm to yourself or others then discussion must take place in session to resolve these concerns.
If I have reason to believe that a child under the age of 16 is at risk of harm or neglect, then I have a legal duty to contact child welfare services, preferably in connection with you for further support.
If disclosure to authorities is necessary, then this must be done in a timely and transparent manner.
Respecting Your Privacy
Platform
I conduct my online booking and on-line sessions through a health care records electronic platform/app called Jane.
Online appointments that are booked and conducted through the Jane platform meet Canadian legal health care record privacy requirements. Online therapy services are fully PIPEDA/PHIPA compliant.
Encryption
Whenever you use any area of the Jane platform, all data in transit between Jane servers and the web browser is encrypted using 256-bit encryption–the same that banks use! This ensures that the connection between you (the client) and I (the therapist) is secure.
No recording or data storage
The Jane platform does not allow recordings or data storage of any kind during our sessions which allows the communication to be done exclusively between you (the client) and I (the therapist).
Engaging in virtual therapy sessions: Your commitment to protect the privacy of your therapy sessions
As I cannot control the therapy environment where you are using your phone or computer, I ask that you ensure you are in a confidential space when engaging in your therapy sessions.
Try to ensure that you will not be interrupted during our time together, to protect your privacy and to get the most out of your therapy.
Please refrain from using any recording devices in our sessions (audio or video).

Fees and Policies
Session Fee
Sessions are 50 minutes in length and cost $175.00 per hour.
I have one pro-bono time slot and two sliding-scale time slots ($100 and $130 per 50 minutes). Please inquire about availability (or waitlist) for these slots if needed.
Payment Methods
Payment is due at the end of your appointment, upon receipt of your invoice.
Payment methods include cash, Interac etransfer to erin@featherandtwig.ca, or through secure credit card payment in your online Jane app account.
Cancellation Policy
You will receive a reminder email through your Jane app account 2 days before your scheduled appointment. Your appointment time is meant to be for you. In consideration of other clients who may be on wait lists for session times or to access services, I request that 24 hours notice be given to cancel appointments. Clients will be billed $50 for missed appointments or inadequate notice (except in case of an emergency).
Coverage by Insurance Benefits
I am a registered member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (RP #001166). Please check with your benefits insurance provider if you are covered for psychotherapy services by a “Registered Psychotherapist” (RP). This service may be labelled under allied health care providers. I am not registered as a Psychologist or as a Social Worker and therefore my services are not covered under psychological services provided by a psychologist or psychotherapy services provided by a social worker. It is also important to review details regarding the amount of coverage that is provided and duration of sessions that are supported to assist your financial planning. Upon payment at the end of each session, you will be provided with a receipt that can be submitted to your extended health care provider for reimbursement and/or used as a medical expense deduction for tax purposes.
Direct Services
Direct services include all sessions provided either in-person or virtually. My direct contact therapy hour is 50 minutes to allow for session preparation and post-session documentation.
Indirect Services
Indirect services include external forms of support such as additional requests for clinical reports to third parties, letters of support, or ongoing communication with other professionals that you would like me to communicate with (such as other therapists or educators- on an ongoing basis). Unless arranged otherwise, regular fees apply to these services subject to charges in 15 minute increments of my hourly rate.
